Some things never go out of style. For ABC, who already has two successful medical dramas, they thought it was time for another one. Dana Delany stars as Dr. Megan Hunt on Body of Proof. She was a great neurosurgeon until a near fatal car accident ended her career. So, she decides to start fresh and became a medical examiner. Her boss is Dr. Kate Murphy, played by Jeri Ryan, who was previously on the CBS drama Shark. Helping her solve the case is Peter Dunlap, an investigator played Nicholas Bishop, who was previously on FOX’s Past Life.
Delany does whatever it takes to find the answers and to reconnect with her daughter at the same time. With so many of these shows on the air, you would think the medical genre deserves a break. However, after watching the pilot, I was actually surprised on how good this show can become. Delany has never missed a beat when on screen. Also, it’s great to see Jeri Ryan again after taking some time off.
Finally, ABC may have a winner here. It has the right combination of drama and comedy. To me, it’s House meets Crossing Jordan in a way. I give Body of Proof three out of four stars. What do you think of this show? Was Delany type cast because of her success on other crime dramas? Will this be gone after one season? Send us an e-mail at: ryan@therpmshow.com. All new episodes air Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC.
