The term “legal drama” has been overdone lately, but just when you thought you’ve seen it all, you haven’t. On USA, they seem to have it all. From Burn Notice to Royal Pains , they entertain millions of viewers a week. However, they have one more trick up their sleeve: it’s called Fairly Legal . starring Sarah Shahi. Previously on NBC’s Life , Shahi plays former attorney Kate Reed.
After her father suddenly dies, Reed comes back to work at her father’s law firm as a mediator. A mediator is someone who settles disputes between people without having to go through a trial. She sometimes has to work with her stepmother Lauren, whom she doesn’t like very much. She also goes to her ex-husband Justin when she’s out of options.
After the first episode, I think USA has another winner here. Shahi brings emotion, depth, and comedy to the character, as well as the show. It goes along a very steady pace and it is time for her to shine. I have never seen a show like this in all the years I’ve been watching. I give Fairly Legal three and a half out of four possible stars. What do you think about this one? Would you call this show unique? Do we need another legal drama? Did USA make the right call to pick it up? Send us an e-mail and let your voice be heard.
