We are about mid-way through the TV season and NBC has a new legal drama from David E. Kelley called Harry’s Law . Kelley is the creator of The Practice , Boston Legal , and Ally McBeal . Kathy Bates stars as patent attorney Harriet Korn who is fired from her law firm in Cincinnati, Ohio. To make ends meet, she becomes a defense attorney who works out of an old shoe store. Her assistant Jenna, played by Prom Night’s Brittany Snow, says she can make more money by selling shoes on the side. Later she is joined by another attorney named Adam played by Nate Corddry.

Now I have not seen an episode of The Practice or Boston Legal , but I know Kelley likes to include comedy in his shows. This one is no exception. As far as casting goes, they make a good team, but the pilot was not very good. From a suicide jumper falling on her, to Adam hitting Harriet with his car, she escapes without a scratch. Now, I don’t know about you, but both of these scenes were just silly and stupid. However, Adam yelling at the judge during an arraignment hearing was pretty good. The client that Adam was defending was not very smart either.

I give Harry’s Law two stars out of a possible four. There are some things they need to work on to make this show better. Bates is one of the few good things about this one. What do you think of Harry’s Law ? Was this the right move to put it on Monday nights? Could NBC do better than this? Has David E. Kelley done it again?
