Some of the best shows in recent years have been cancelled by ABC, but, now with some new pilots this fall I hope they stick with this one. It’s called Detroit 1-8-7, and it tells the story of how the cops serve and protect in one of the most dangerous cities in America. It stars Michael Imperioli, who was on The Soprano’s as Detective Louis Fitch, and James McDaniel who was previously on NYPD Blue as Sgt. Jesse Longford. Now, I think it’s about time we get away from cities such as Los Angeles and New York City because most police dramas are filmed there. With Imperioli as one of the lead characters, you can’t go wrong with him.

So, for this show, I give it three and half out of four stars, because they actually film in Detroit to give it authenticity, and they have some great characters as well. They were going to shoot it as a mockumentary but that was dropped. The executives thought it would be better to shoot it like a regular cop show. I say that was a smart move. In the last five minutes of the pilot something shocking happens and I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.

So, if you have not seen Detroit 1-8-7, check it out. It’s one of the best cop shows I have seen in a long time. What do you think of the show? Did they pick the right city for it? Do we really need another cop show, or will this get cancelled like every other show that has been on ABC? Send us an e-mail and let your voice be heard. All-New episodes of Detroit 1-8-7 are Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC.
