A new pilot for ABC this fall with a unique premise is My Generation. It is based on a Swedish series called God’s Highway. It tells the story of nine high school classmates in Austin, Texas who are being filmed for a documentary series just before they graduate. Then, ten years later the documentary crew returns to see how much they have changed in the last decade and to see if they accomplished their goals. You have all the distinct personalities, like the overachiever, the beauty queen, the jock, and so on. Some of them are married, while others have jobs. Soon they realize that things don’t always go as planned. The series takes place in present day while showing flashbacks to the past so you get an idea of who these characters are.
I must say the pilot was pretty good with the documentary style and all, but I think it would be better if they got rid of the documentary crew and just let it play out as a regular drama. Not everyone wants to be followed everywhere and have their whole life on camera. With the pilot, anyway, I give My Generation three out of four stars. I say this because you can identify with some of these characters and what they have been through. At times you even feel bad for them, so it is an emotional type of drama. What do you think of My Generation? Is this the right type of show to be watching? Is it the right time to have a show like this? Send us an e-mail.
