The fall season of 2009 has come and gone. We have seen new TV shows come and go. But one of the best new shows is considered a dark horse. It’s one of those dramas that you know it’s on but you just don’t hear about it. From executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer comes the new drama The Forgotten. Starring Christian Slater as Alex Donovan who leads a group of volunteers called The Forgotten Network who help the police solve cold cases by piecing together the John and Jane Does’ final days from the evidence they are given. They do everything they can to bring closure to the victim’s family and to give them a name. The Forgotten Network consists of five members who come from all walks of life who have their own reasons for joining the network.
Now I have been watching this since it started and in my opinion this is the most emotionally powerful show I have ever seen. From start to finish the episode is narrated by the victim they are trying to help and in the end they say “My name is… and these are the people who gave me my life back.” For Bruckheimer, his track record is very good for anything he produces. The show was not well received by critics and they don’t think it will last one season.
When it comes to new shows I say forget the ratings and give it time to grow one season is not enough. It should be what the fans want and how many are really out there. For example, if a show gets three million viewers a week that doesn’t mean that they are not 20 million more around the country that watches the show. They just may not watch it when it airs on TV. This is one of my favorite new shows of the season and if you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend it. The Forgotten is on Tuesday’s at 10/9c on ABC.
